Men are notoriously hard to buy for BUT I think buying gifts for men over 55 must be the hardest of the lot. They normally have everything they want: a well stocked shed / garage, wardrobe, liquor cabinet and they just buy what they want.
So, what do you buy ‘ the guy who has everything’? Often the joy of the newest, shinny thing has waned by this age- material gifts just don’t have the same appeal they once did. Then you have to look at what experiences you can offer a gift rather than products.
The criteria for purchasing a gift for men over 55 then becomes, can you provide an experience that, firstly, gives the recipient a great experience and secondly do it in a way he can share it with family and friends.
The second part is often overlooked but it is a significant component when choosing a suitable gift. From my perspective watching clients in this age bracket drive our extreme 4x4s around our tracks the ‘purpose’ of the experience is to create a memory. Something special to do AND share.
Gifts for men over 55 is all about creating a lasting memory. I can’t think of more than a handful of men in the last 10 years within this age bracket who came by themselves to do the drive. For younger men this is not uncommon but the over 55’s almost always come with family and / or friends. It’s one of the main reasons we offer fee rides for passengers – anything is far more memorable as a shred experience.
When considering a gift for men over 55 I would recommend really thinking about an activity that will be memorable but just as importantly a gift that can be shared.
